2011 was our year of change, 2012 is our year for making a difference............
Welcome to the 2012 Hockey Season, this year your club intents to make a difference both on and off the field and you can rest assure that the board is committed to making this happen by making hockey fun and enjoyable for all.I am fortunate to be surrounded by a group of dedicated hockey lovers on the committee and most importantly they are passionate club people. I wish to welcome the office bearers for 2012.

On behalf of West men’s hockey I wish to welcome Nate Ball on board as our PHL coach for at least the next two seasons. Nate is a well credentialed and highly motivated coach whom I am certain will assist our club in achieving the rewards we deserve; Nate will be well supported by our Premier management team of Stephen Mina as trainer, Darren Wiggins as PHL Manager and Sam Turner as 2nd grade coach.
If you are selected in the Premier squad you better be prepared to learn plenty and work hard for I am sure there will be guy’s in 3rd & 4th grade squad just hanging to take your spot. With the comp starting in five weeks and if you have not already done so, you better shine the shoes and dust off the stick.
I also ask of you to look at how you can contribute to the club, most certainly this involves giving all you got on the field which I would expect from any team mate and attending training which is provided for you, but there is also numerous roles that you could assist such as coaching, team manager, match reports, sponsorship, assisting with Thursday meat tray raffles at the Duke, social event preparation, fundraising events, photography, game videos, supporting other grades. We are particularly looking for team coaches and managers but for any role you could assist with would be greatly appreciated.

A Message from Grill'd
We love to give back to the local communities we call home. We get lots of requests to support groups from all walks of life. The weird & the wonderful… but all of them worthy. Until now it’s been pretty difficult for us to fulfill all of these requests. So we’ve created Local Matters. It’s our community donation programme. Every month your local Grill’d will donate $500 to the local community. Over the course of a year, we’d like to think we could touch well over 1,000 local groups. Our aim is to find and support the unsung heroes rather than the big groups who always get the limelight. We hope you’ll see some groups you never knew existed and develop a new-found appreciation for what goes on in your neck of the woods.
How it works
It’s a pretty high-tech system involving bottle tops, jars & counting… The $500 will be split amongst 3 local groups. Each group will be represented on a different jar. Every time a customer buys a burger we’ll give them a token (ok, it’s a bottle top from our friends at Little Creatures). Our customers decide who they’d like us to support by choosing which jar to put their token in. At the end of the month, we’ll count up the tokens to figure out who gets what. We’ll split the money $300 / $100 / $100, so everyone gets something. Pretty simple really.
How do I take part?
If you’re part of a worthy group we’d love to hear from you. All you have to do is click on the button below to take part.
The rules?
Obviously we’ve had to make up a few rules on how to play. Any bona fide local group is welcome to apply. We’d love it if you’re not well known. And we’re a sucker for a great story/mission. You’ve got 45 words to put your best foot forward (this is also what will appear on your jar, so make it a good 45 words!). You can have as few as a handful of members or lots of members. Your group should be local to your chosen Grill’d and you can appear once every 12 months. Obviously if your group sounds a little dodgy or has questionable motives, you won’t get through. No offence. The final decision rests with the lovely Grill’d judges.
